Housing is the number 1 affordability issue in Chula Vista. Taxes and government regulations are major driving factors affecting the cost of housing. As your city councilman, I will fight new tax increases and fight to make it easier to build and improve housing in the city.
The cost of living in California continues to rise, and families in Chula Vista feel it every day — in housing costs, groceries, gas, and utility bills. Too many working families are being squeezed by rising expenses while government policies make it harder to live, work, and raise a family in our community.
Chula Vista should be a place where hardworking families can build a future, buy a home, start a business, and thrive. Addressing affordability requires practical solutions that expand opportunity while keeping government responsible and efficient.
As a CPA and small business owner, I understand that affordability starts with responsible financial management and smart economic policy.
Taxes directly affect affordability. Families are already struggling with high costs across California. Sacramento politicians and Sandag are already exploring a mileage tax that may cost taxpayers thousands of dollars per year, on top of the gas taxes we already.
I will work to:
Government must manage taxpayer dollars with the same discipline families use to manage their household budgets.
Housing is the largest expense for most families. We must make it easier to build housing while protecting the quality of our neighborhoods.
I support:
When supply increases, housing prices stabilize and become more attainable.
Affordability improves when residents have access to good-paying local jobs.
We should focus on:
When residents can work locally, they spend less time commuting and more time supporting our local economy.
Well-maintained infrastructure supports economic growth and protects property values.
We must prioritize:
Investing in infrastructure helps support businesses, reduces long-term costs, and improves quality of life.
Chula Vista deserves leadership that understands both the financial challenges families face and the importance of responsible governance.
My background as a CPA, business owner, and community leader gives me the experience to evaluate financial decisions carefully and ensure our city policies support economic opportunity.
I will fight to make Chula Vista a place where families can afford to live, work, and succeed.
